Lay Associates are lay Catholics who desire to share the spirituality and the mission of the Sisters. They declare themselves as Lay Associates of the Sisters of Charity through a public act of consecration which is renewed every year. As Lay Associates they undertake to live the Christian discipleship from the perspective of the spirituality of the Sisters of Charity. Accordingly they pledge themselves to cultivate a life of prayer, participate in the mission of the Congregation and promote its Charism. They meet every second Saturday at St. Francis Convent, Secunderabad to promote fellowship, urge one another to remain faithful, share their life, struggles and joys, the effort they make to be involved in doing works of mercy, and to pray and reflect together. Some are actively involved in the prison ministry. There are 36 lay associates in Secunderabad and some more in Kothagudem. Sr. Christine Rebello has been following the group for the past 26 years since its inception.
